10-inch mini rack for a closet that is not 19-inch

A 10-inch cabinet is a form-factor decision, not a cheaper 19-inch. If your switch, UPS, and patch panel are already 19-inch, stay on the StarTech 12U 2-post. Buy 10-inch only when the wall is too narrow, or the gear is already 10-inch.

10-inch here means 254 mm rail spacing, not a 10-inch-deep 19-inch shelf. Most pizza-box 2.5G switches, 1U PDUs, and 12-port panels are 19-inch. A 10-inch box will not take them. The named start if you are on this lane is the NavePoint 6U 10-inch wall cabinet, 11.8 in overall depth, perforated door, two shelves, one blank. Amazon B0BNM9RY4T, UPC 810100701857. 12.3 × 13.8 × 11.8 in. Max mount depth 7 in. 110 lb class. Pre-assembled. That 7-inch number is the trap: a 10-inch TRENDnet switch plus a fat brick will not sit.

Amazon listing $161.99 this pass. NavePoint’s own 10-inch series also prints $161.99 on the 11.8-inch perforated and glass 6U, and $187.99 / $183.99 on the 15.75-inch-deep siblings. Newegg 11.8-inch perforated card 2BA-001H-00229 printed $203.99 — do not make that the buy. Print the live tag. The 15.75-inch-deep box is only the buy if you measured a 10-inch switch that needs more than 7 in of rail.

Skip

Skip 10-inch because it looks smaller in a photo. Skip a 19-inch desktop open frame sold as a “mini rack” — those still take 19-inch gear. Skip the glass-door sibling unless you want to look at LEDs; same money as perforated on the 11.8-inch 6U. Skip 10-inch switches unless the cabinet is already on the wall. The 10-inch panel, once that cabinet is the job, is TRENDnet TC-P12C6. Skip eBay lots. If you are still on 19-inch, the compare lives in 12U vs 10-inch. We have not hung one.
