TerraMaster F2-424 vs F2-425: skip the extra $125
The F2-425 is the cheap TOS 2-bay. F2-424 is the same two SATA bays with N95, 8 GB DDR5, dual 2.5GbE, and two M.2 slots. Maker store $379.99 this pass, out of stock. That is about $125 over F2-425 at $254.99. Skip it unless you will actually trunk two 2.5G ports or cache on NVMe.
F2-424 spec block: Intel N95, 4C/4T, 3.4 GHz burst, UHD Graphics, AES-NI. 8 GB DDR5-4800 SODIMM, one slot, official max 32 GB. Dual 2.5GbE. Dual M.2 2280 NVMe (PCIe 3.0 x1). HDMI 2.0b. Two USB 3.2 10 Gbps. 40 W brick. 2-year paper. Maker RAID 0 linear 283 MB/s on 2× 18 TB NAS HDDs. Standby noise claim 19.0 dB(A) at 1 m. F2-425 is still the N5095 / 4 GB DDR4 / one 2.5GbE / no M.2 chassis. Retailer titles mix “N95” onto that page; quote the spec block on that note. You are not buying a faster copy engine on two HDDs. You are buying dual LAN, NVMe cache, and DDR5 headroom.

Skip
Skip F2-424 as a “faster F2-425.” Two HDD RAID 1 will not fill two 2.5G ports. Skip it because the store title on F2-425 also says N95 — read the spec block. Skip Amazon drive bundles. Skip eBay lots. If you need DSM, that is still a DS224+, not this chassis. If you need 10G, that is a different box, not dual 2.5G. We have not sat with an F2-424. TOS is not DSM; do not buy this as a Synology substitute.
