One leftover box is enough

Pi-hole, the house folder, and couch SSH share one leftover box. A second computer waits.

Forums love a “node.” You do not need a second leftover box to finish the weekend path. The first computer is what you already have. A cluster is later still: Kubernetes is not the first lab. A company stack is not a company.

What lives on the first box

Ad block: the first useful thing. A folder: a file share. A second copy: USB or another disk you already have, not a second Marketplace PC. Couch login: SSH from the couch. Tick Lab plan after those work.

When a second box can wait

When the first one is loud, hot, or dead. When a USB backup disk is full and you already have another old computer sitting idle. Not because a forum said “high availability.” Write the first house name first: write the house name.
