Written 9 Sep 2026. This is a how-to, not a product card.
The closet map is a sketch
Lab plan Closet map is a U sketch and switch-port labels. It is not CAD, and it does not appear in ByteRush.
Drop the leftover box, a switch, and a UPS if you have one. Label the ports you actually plugged in. That is enough to remember which cable is Pi-hole after a month.
What belongs here
Open Lab plan → Closet map. Pick a U height. Click an empty U. Name the gear. Optional: link a row from Stuff I have so the sketch and the notebook stay attached. Switch-port chips are labels, not a managed switch.
The leftover box still needs a cable and a house number. Those walks are a cable beats Wi-Fi and find it on the house network. Write the name after it works: write the house name in Lab plan.
What this is not
It is not a reason to buy a rack this weekend. A shelf or the floor is fine. A later skinny rack is a 10-inch mini rack, when the pile actually needs one. It is not a ByteRush lesson. The feed never draws your U sketch. Two lists stay two lists: Stuff I have is not the feed.
What next
Rooms: how the three sites fit. Cable: a cable beats Wi-Fi. House names: write the house name.
Optional: find the leftover box as cards in ByteRush — same Labthrift passkey as Plan. Skip if you just want to keep reading.
Skip
- Skip CAD, Visio, and a rack this weekend.
- Skip buying a 24-port heater because the sketch has empty U.
- Skip expecting the map to show up in ByteRush.
