Written 9 Sep 2026. This is a how-to, not a product card.
How the three Labthrift sites fit
Notes, Lab plan, and ByteRush are one house with three rooms. Same weekend path. One Labthrift passkey. None of them are required.
You can stay on these static notes and never open the other two. The other two exist so the same eleven start-path jobs have a checklist and a snackable lesson. They do not run Pi-hole or the house share for you.
The three rooms
| Room | Job |
|---|---|
| labthrift.com | How-tos. No account. HTML is the source. |
| plan.labthrift.com | Private notebook: gear, weekend ticks, closet map. Username + passkey. |
| app.labthrift.com (ByteRush) | Short lessons and sandboxes. Own username + passkey. |
The weekend order lives in start-path.json. Plan's checklist and the notes index use that same list. ByteRush lessons point back at the matching how-to. Longer walk: the weekend path is one list.
One path, two optional apps
Read the note. If you want the idea first, open the matching ByteRush lesson with ?lesson= โ example: SSH as cards. When the job actually works on the old PC, tick it in Lab plan.
A longer walk for that habit is learn the idea, then do the job.
One lock, two notebooks
Plan and ByteRush share one Labthrift passkey. A key you create on either app opens the other. The closet map never appears in ByteRush. XP never appears in Plan. Mint an enroll code on either app for a second phone. Detail: one Labthrift passkey and a second phone is two apps. Recovery shape: keep a lab plan with a passkey and export before you wipe a phone.
What next
Haven't picked a machine? Start with what you already have. One leftover box is enough: don't buy a second node. Ready to install? Your first weekend. Privacy of the three sites: About.
Skip
- Skip both apps if the notes are enough.
- Skip expecting Plan's notebook to appear in ByteRush.
- Skip merging the two gear lists. Plan is a notebook. ByteRush only shapes the feed. Detail: Stuff I have is not the feed.
- Skip buying gear because a third site exists.

The live apps are Lab plan and ByteRush. The contract for the weekend path is start-path.json. Privacy copy lives on About.
