TRENDnet TEG-S562: a 2.5G closet switch with a real 10G DAC
Four 2.5G copper ports and two 10G SFP+ cages, unmanaged and fanless. The 10G DAC idea without VLANs or eight copper ports.
The 8-port closet roundup sends people who need a 10G uplink to the TEG-3102WS (about $200). This 6-port box is the same uplink recipe with less copper and no management. Spec: 4× 2.5GBASE-T, 2× 10G SFP+, 60 Gbps fabric, fanless metal, desktop or wall, NDAA/TAA, lifetime paper in the US/Canada. No PoE.
Amazon street $51.99 on the 22 Aug 2026 listing. Official-refurb sits at $45.99 (maker-backed 90-day) — a footnote, not the hero SKU. Newegg shows one offer at $57.99 and another at $108.99; use Amazon or TRENDnet, not the inflated 3P. Maker page does not print a list price. Amazon does not print max draw; one Newegg offer text says 5.86 W.
The short list
| Box | What it is | Street, 22 Aug 2026 | Buy if |
|---|---|---|---|
| TRENDnet TEG-S562 (V1) | 4× 2.5GBASE-T + 2× 10G SFP+, unmanaged, fanless, 60 Gbps fabric | Amazon $51.99. Official-refurb $45.99. Newegg $57.99 / $108.99 3P. | You want a 10G DAC hop and you do not need VLANs or eight copper ports. |
Same recipe, different brand: TEG-S562 vs QNAP QSW-2104-2S. When the extra cage is worth it: 2.5G vs a 10G uplink.

Skip SODOLA / HASIVO / no-name "8-port 2.5G + 10G SFP+" Amazon toys. Skip 5-port leftovers with one 2.5G uplink and four 1G ports. If you need eight 2.5G copper and no SFP+, stay on the unmanaged 8-port default. If you already know you need VLANs, the TEG-3102WS in that table is the managed hop, not this box.
