1U is for a rack. A closet gets a pizza box.
Used 1U is deep, loud, and wants rails, blanking, and 208-friendly PSU airflow. The closet objects are 1–2 L pizza boxes. Most used 1U servers remain a bad buy. These are the few shapes that are not.

Pizza-box idle band from published reviews: NUC 8.8–12 W; MS-01 13–35 W (jdhodges); Protectli ~8–12 W (KB / HomeNetworkGuy). 1U: ~70 W+ idle typical. NUC and Beelink have small fans. Protectli is silent. We have not burned these in a closet.
